Dr. Richard Angelo is an orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon specializing in minimally-invasive knee, shoulder, and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Angelo brings 30 years of experience to you to identify and treat your orthopedic problem. Whether non-operative or surgical solutions are appropriate for you, the focus is on restoring you to an active healthy lifestyle. When indicated, he uses state-of-the art, minimally invasive techniques, which in most cases, are performed in an outpatient setting.  These methods allow you to experience less post-operative pain, recover more quickly, and realize the greatest possible return of function. He clearly explains the diagnosis and specific treatment options available, enabling you to make prudent choices about your orthopedic care.

Specialized Training:
Doctor Angelo is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. Following completion of his orthopedic residency, he undertook a year of specialized fellowship study and research in Knee, Shoulder, Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy with Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Richard Hawkins. He has previously served as one of the University of Washington Husky athletic team physicians, Evergreen Hospital Chief of Surgery, and as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Washington Medical School.

Dr. Angelo is Past President of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He was named to the list of “125 Outstanding Knee Surgeons” in America and was selected as a “Top Doc” by The International Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and identified in the publication, “The Leading Physicians of the World”. In 2015, he was identified as a “Top Doc” by Seattle Met Magazine and a “Top Doc” of Washington State by Castle-Connolly.

Knee – arthroscopic, minimally-invasive anterior cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, articular cartilage resurfacing, grafting, and restoration; minimally-invasive total knee replacement, minimally-invasive partial knee replacement, computer-navigated joint replacement.
Shoulder – minimally-invasive arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and allograft reconstruction, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization; treatment of biceps disorders, impingement and acromioclavicular injuries, partial and total shoulder replacement.
